Kidney patients continue to suffer due to overcrowded healthcare facilities and limited access to dialysis. With Karachi’s rapidly growing population—now estimated between 45 to 50 million—the demand for dialysis services has increased drastically. Long waiting hours and lack of machines have placed countless lives at risk, creating an urgent need for more dialysis centers across the city.

Human Shelter Foundation – Free Dialysis
Keeping this crisis in view, Human Shelter Foundation decided to establish dialysis centers equipped with five machines each, located in both underdeveloped and well-developed areas. The concept allows privileged individuals to donate dialysis machines on their own behalf or in memory of their loved ones, while the Foundation manages and operates the centers. After successful implementation in Karachi, the initiative will be expanded across Pakistan.
The Foundation announced the establishment of 50 free dialysis centers in Karachi, aimed at serving 30,000 patients. The first free dialysis center was launched in Liaquatabad, catering to 600 patients per month, marking the second operational center under this initiative. Pakistan currently has over 17 million kidney patients, and due to limited healthcare resources, access to dialysis remains a serious challenge.

The country faces a severe shortage of dialysis units, and with annual treatment costs exceeding $3,000 per patient, affordability becomes impossible for many families. Considering the rising number of patients, high treatment costs, and lack of facilities, Human Shelter Foundation took the initiative to establish completely free dialysis centers, ensuring life-saving treatment without financial burden.
The Free Dialysis Centers operate without any cash counters, similar to our free COVID medical facilities, and function entirely through donations. The Foundation has already launched its second free dialysis center and remains committed to achieving the goal of 50 dialysis centers. This initiative represents a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare system—but its success depends on public support.
