Free Dastarkhwan
Pakistan, with a rapidly growing population and rising inflation, faces serious challenges in ensuring food security for millions of people. Due to limited resources, unemployment, and the absence of a strong welfare system, a large portion of the population struggles to afford basic meals. According to national statistics, poverty levels increased significantly in recent years, pushing millions of individuals below the poverty line. For many families, accessing even one nutritious meal a day has become a daily struggle.
With the increasing burden of poverty and hunger, community support and volunteer-driven initiatives play a vital role in addressing food insecurity. Human Shelter Foundation established its Free Dastarkhwan initiative to respond to these challenges and provide free, nutritious meals to underprivileged individuals across Karachi and other regions.
Serving with Dignity
Human Shelter Foundation’s Free Dastarkhwan remains active throughout the day, catering to laborers, daily wage workers, students, and underprivileged families. Inspired by the tradition of Imam Hasan (A.S.), meals are served without discrimination, ensuring respect, equality, and compassion for all, especially during special occasions such as Ramadan, Muharram, and community events.
Daily Meal Service
Our Free Dastarkhwan operates every day to ensure that no one sleeps hungry. Meals are prepared and served in a clean, respectful environment, maintaining dignity for every individual. Volunteers and staff ensure timely distribution of fresh and nutritious food to those in need.
Expanding Food Support
Our services extend beyond a single location. We provide:
- Free daily meals at multiple Dastarkhwan locations
- Sehri and Iftar arrangements during the holy month of Ramadan
- Special meal distributions during emergencies and national crises
Over the years, Human Shelter Foundation has served thousands of individuals daily through its Free Dastarkhwan program, continuously expanding its reach and improving meal quality across Pakistan.
